In my journey to a healthier lifestyle I made small and steady changes over a two-year span. In that time I’ve discovered some tried and true favorite foods from Trader Joe’s (I love shopping there!) that are on my grocery list every week.

I find myself re-purchasing these things many times and I’ve noticed that when I have these things on hand it becomes much easier to make healthy choices, and it becomes more automatic to do so. It’s nice to have healthy choices be more built in to your life! Whether you’re just starting your health journey or looking to freshen up your weekly grocery run, here are my go-to items at Trader Joe’s.

Berries: I make it a point to check what organic berries are on sale each week and grab those. These are delicious as a snack or topper to a smoothie, cereal, pancakes, or waffles.

Bananas: Such a perfect fruit! I love bananas because they are portable, a sweet and delicious snack, and also very filling if you need something quick and are very hungry. I use these often in smoothies too. If you don’t want to them spoil you can cut them up and store them a Ziploc bag in the freezer, and they will be fine for smoothies.

Carrots and celery: This is another go-to snack for me and an easy way to get in more veggies. I love them raw with hummus or chopped and cooked in a stir fry.

Salad mix: There’s always something good in the way of bagged greens at Trader Joe’s. I like having these on hand because I feel like I already have a fresh salad halfway ready for me! I love the broccoli slaw, cabbage slaw, spring mix greens, and the salad kits that come with toppings and dressing right in the bag.

Baby spinach: This is one of my favorites because it’s so versatile. It can be the base of a salad, melted into an omelet or scramble, added to smoothies, and wilted into any vegetable dish at the end of the cooking process to add more plant-based food and fiber. It goes with everything.

Lemons, limes: This is a great trick for anyone trying to cut down on salt. A squeeze of lemon or lime can easily brighten up meats or vegetables, especially seafood, and it helped me get used to cutting back on, and eventually stop using, table salt! I also like to put lemon wedges in my water bottle all day for a light, lemonade-like drink.

Bag of Apples: Have one a day, you can’t go wrong. Sweet, crisp, fiber-rich, perfect! I have had an apple around 11am most days over the last 2 years.

And there you have it. I suppose it sounds very simple, but these are things I go back to every week and what set me up for success! Living with beauty begins within, and wholesome, nourishing foods become the building blocks of the body and skin you’re in.

I hope this was helpful, what are some of your Trader Joe’s favorites? Leave me a comment down below!
