My Favorite Face Masks for Glowing Skin

Hello beauties! Now that fall is in full swing, I’m so excited and loving the season. As the weather changes and the air becomes more dry, this is a great time to pamper your skin and give it a boost. Of course I do try to take care of my skin daily. You can learn all about my current daily skincare routine over here. I don’t go to spas and get regular facials, nor do I have a dermatologist, so the primary way I soothe my skin is at home. The easiest way to infuse your skin with a quick treatment is with fabulous masks!

Seasonal shifts are a great time to give your skin extra nourishment so that it can stay soft, hydrated and not breakout. I love trying out new face masks to see how my skin will react. Over the years I have honed in on my favorites. Here are some of my all-time favorite masks that I use all the time!

This is my weekly mask! Early on Saturday mornings I love to start off my weekend with this little bit of self-care! I make a hot cup of tea, put on this mask, and just relax and plan out my day. There’s something so luxurious about the early morning hours and mild light, when the rest of the world is still sleeping, and you have a fresh blank canvas of a weekend ahead!

This mask is so creamy. It goes on nice and thick and it tingles a little bit, so I like to think that I can feel it working. It dries down to a matte, flat layer, that comes off easily with warm water and a washcloth. I like to use an exfoliating sponge or washcloth to gently scrub my face to remove it. I always notice my skin looks a little bit brighter, and dullness is gone. It also seems to help with scarring over time and spots to fade away, so there’s definitely a brightening effect that leaves my skin glowing. It’s also very soft and hydrated afterward!

I would recommend this mask for: all skin types, normal, dry, oily, or combination skin. Should be OK for sensitive skin as well.

I don’t use this one quite as often, but it’s great for anyone with hyper pigmentation or dark scarring that takes time to fade. This is very common for medium to deeper skin tones like mine, after a blemish clears up, my skin will still have a dark scar left behind that can take many months to fade away, sometimes even a year! So when an esthetician at the Mario Badescu spa in NYC told me about this I knew I needed to give it a try. It does not disappoint! This mask really helped fade away scars much faster for me. I could see a visible difference after 1 use, and marks were almost totally done after about 3 uses. Sticking with this product is the key!

I would recommend this mask for: all skin types, normal, dry, oily, or combination skin. Should be OK for sensitive skin as well.

I don’t this one much at all but it’s really great for firming skin and calming down irritated skin. It’s a clay mask that has oatmeal to reduce redness and calm down any irritation. This mask also helped nourish and tighten the skin, so it’s a great option for more mature skin. Now that I’m well into my 30s I will probably start using this one more frequently.

I would recommend this mask for: all skin types, normal, dry, oily, or combination skin. Should be excellent for sensitive skin!

Another all-star product and one of my holy grail! This is a top beauty blogger cult favorite among masks! It was all over Youtube a couple of years ago and for good reason. This one also falls into the “clearing masks” category for me and it’s just a miracle-worker for clearing away any breakouts, blemishes and heal up trouble skin. It’s a pretty strong mask and includes AHA and BHA acids, so I would be cautious to use this if you have very dry, delicate or sensitive skin.

This mask was developed by dermatologists and boasts a ton of ingredients to drastically improve skin. They have their own proprietary blends and complexes they use so this is a unique product on the market.

How it works

This mask is really cool. I apply it on as a very thin layer, using a flat foundation brush to get as thin a layer as possible. There are little chunks of leaves or mixture that are can sit on the skin as well. Then you let it dry down completely, which can take time, but the thinner the layer you put on, the faster it will dry. But once it dries completely, something extraordinary happens!

You will start to see tiny little dots of oil through the mask! Glamglow says they use activated charcoal in their mask which attracts and absorbs toxins up and out of your pores. It really deep cleans your skin from the inside out! The longer I leave the mask on, the more oil you will see soaking the dried down mask. Strange, but also satisfying to see! At the same time, the mask is meant to put powerful healing nutrients back into the skin, to heal it overall.

Amazing results!

In my experience this mask has been a total game changer for me. I used to break out more easily, and I can get rid of breakouts fast when I use this mask as a spot treatment on small areas. This mask is also excellent at truly deep cleaning my pores and revitalizing my skin.

Once I rinse it off, I am always left with brighter, glowing skin. It works well immediately as well as in the long-term. I can’t recommend it enough and I’ve used up many jars of it already. Pro Tips: I sometimes find it cheaper on (instead of at Sephora) and you can also spot treat razor bumps or ingrown hairs with this.

I would recommend this mask for: normal, oily, or combination skin. Might be harsh for dry skin, and definitely not recommended for sensitive skin.

You’ll notice I haven’t referenced any sheet masks on here. Sheet masks are definitely a huge trend and have been for the last few years. I have tried a few out, but I have yet to find anything that leaves my skin looking or feeling dramatically different, with a lasting result. And for me personally, I just don’t like the feeling of them when I put them on my skin. I love how easy they are to use, but typically the masks are very saturated, and when I put them on they are terribly cold! Maybe I can only try sheet masks in the summer?! What about you, do you have any favorite sheet masks that I should try out? Or other masks? I am really curious about the new L’Oreal ones! Leave me a comment below and tell me your favorites!

Thanks for stopping by, until next time!
