9 Beauty Resolutions for 2017

2017 beauty resolutions

Hi beauties! 2017 is off to a running start and like everyone else, I spent some time creating plenty of goals for the new year. While my list of goals and resolutions is rather long, I thought it would be fun to share some beauty-related resolutions that I’ll be trying to incorporate. I encourage you to consider these as well. With that, let’s jump right in.

My Beauty Resolutions for 2017!

Hydration: I have dry skin to begin with, so getting regimented with hydrating my skin daily is a must for me! I think this will be a weekly resolution for me.

Vitamins: The skin is a large organ, so to really promote its health we need to make sure to nourish it. I try to eat a balanced diet, but a daily vitamin is a great supplement. It alsogives me the extra boost I need. I recommend taking a multivitamin rather than several single ones, it’s just easier.

Makeup-Free Days: On the weekends I love wearing zero makeup for at least one day. It feels great to let my skin breathe and have nothing but moisturizer on it. This is a new item on my list of resolutions, but I think it’ll be easy to achieve.

Masks and Treatments: I am usually pretty good at doing a face mask each weekend, but I’d love to try more treatments and branch out. I tend to stick to the same one or two masks and it would be fun to change it up. If you’re curious, here are the current masks in my weekly rotation!

Sweat More: Sweating is a great way to release toxins from the body and skin. I’m a firm believer that sweating daily is good for the skin, body, and soul! I’ve definitely been working on my fitness and nutrition over the last couple of years, but I’d love to keep working on consistency.

Beauty sleep: This one needs needs no explanation. Your body does a lot of repair work when you’re sleeping, so that time is not idle! Good quality sleep, as well getting enough, is key to your skin rebuilding itself and allowing for cellular repair. There’s a reason you look and feel refreshed when you catch up on your sleep. This is definitely a resolution I think most people could use!

Try out natural and eco beauty products: A couple of years ago I had managed to accumulate way too much makeup. I made a conscious decision to downsize my collection. Since 2014 I’ve been diligently trying to use up old products before buying new ones. Something I’d love to do this year is start exploring more eco-beauty brands, cruelty free, and vegan/organic beauty brands, as I turn over my collection. This segment of the beauty industry is really flourishing and I think there are tons of new brands to check out. Tweet me here if you have any favorites I should check out!

Simpler routines: I used to spend so much time every morning on my makeup. I loved it and viewed it as “me” time. However, I find myself craving simplicity, I’ve been trying to reduce the time and number of products I use each morning. I challenge us all to simplify our daily look! I do try to keep my daily morning skincare routine fairly straightforward, posted here. 

Always take off makeup at night! I’m usually really good about this, but every now and then I get into a rut and go to bed with (GASP!) my makeup on. It’s just a terrible habit and allows your products to really seep into the skin, clogging pores and potentially stirring up a break out. Nothing feels better than going to bed fresh faced, so I’m going to try and be vigilant about this one!
