As we say goodbye to 2019 and close up the holiday season I’m sure many of you are in this perfect reflection period between Christmas and New Year’s Day! I absolutely love this in between time to reflect back on the last year and using that to craft some powerful intentions for the new year. But how do we turn that into a real plan that we stick to as the year progresses? I’ll show you my full process on how I create my plan for a gorgeous new year! Here are the 5 simple steps.

The first step is to look back at 2019 and think about all the ups and downs, special moments and challenges you faced. Look back with gratitude because each experience has brought you to this point now. While you may have had a really tough year, see if you can find the deeper lessons in each experience. Ask yourself questions like,
- What held me back in 2019?
- What do I feel limited by?
- What were my hopes and dreams last January?
- What are my favorite moments from this year?
Next, think about what you might do differently this time around. Can you identify some things that you can change? Or how about having some backup plans for when the unexpected arises? What are some ways you change your actions or attitude in order to give yourself more grace as well as resilience to handle changes on your path?
DREAM BIG, SET INTENTIONS
Take a deep breath, close your eyes and try to imagine where you’d like to be a year from today? What about 5 years from now? What about 10 years? When you slow down and create space for your dreams, they will start to rise to the surface and greet you! What amazing things do you want to achieve this year? How will you feel in 12 months? Consider your health, relationships, career and even community, how will those all change in a year’s time? Think about the joy and peace you might have, and also how much you have now.
From there, start to write down what you saw in your vision! What are the positive changes you can make to get closer to that dream vision you just imagined?
FIND YOUR WHY
What makes us stick to our goals is really having a deeper connection to our goals. When you have a really clear reason WHY you are going after these goals, then that will keep you going long after your motivation has faded, and old lazy habits start pulling at you! Why are you dreaming these dreams? Is it for your kids? For you to be healthy and have a long life? Is it to explore new places and overcome fears? What is your driving force? Be sure to write it down!
TAKE ACTION, LET GO
Now that you have a clear set of intentions and a clear why, the final and most important part is breaking this down into simple actionable steps. Review your goals and see what can be turned into a daily, weekly or monthly task? Schedule them in your calendar or planner so you start achieving success on auto-pilot!
And also, let go of stress. It’s not really the end results that define us, so remember to reward your effort and stay positive. Not everyday will be perfect, but if you keep moving forward you will always be making progress.
